Hi there. My name is Rachel, and I am a compassionate, down-to-earth counsellor who considers it a great privilege to listen to people’s stories and support them as they seek to overcome challenges and move towards a more meaningful life. I work from a person-centred perspective, favouring an integrative approach, which seeks to tailor therapeutic approaches to the needs of each individual client. I also work from a psychodynamic perspective, recognising that our past can shape our present in significant ways. My work is underpinned by trauma-informed principles.

As a former pastoral care worker and in my current role as a counsellor with Lifewell Hills, I have supported clients with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-harm and relationship challenges. I have extensive experience working with people affected by grief and loss.

My areas of interest also include issues involving coercive control. Coercive control can be present in the form of domestic violence relationships, cultic groups (both religious and non-religious) and toxic, controlling workplaces. I am passionate about helping people affected by these issues to find healing and freedom.

I understand that deciding to seek counselling can be a difficult step, but it is brave one. There is so much that can be gained from telling your story in a safe, supportive environment. Feel free to contact me and make an appointment. I would love to hear from you.
